Hoodoo bellies

This hand dye (Tintex) will be the "belly" area of HD1:

On the left is the Procion dyed fabric i found at ACAD that the owner did not want anymore. On the right is the piece after my treatment with an "over the counter" dye.

Below, the whole piece, folded to show the gorgeous details:

Next step is to cut the piece i need to fit into her belly area, and to add a thin flannelette batting/backing--then the stitch and beading begins!

HD1 in progress

One of my residency works, to be completed by Aug 23rd for the exhibition "finale". She'll be about 43" tall when her caprock is on.

little moldy spaces

The leggy ones above weren't stuffed and are a wonderful squishy fleshy texture :} Then i started stuffing them with a wadded up ball of dyed scrap and leaving the top open, strange cysts or rather moldy growths, as in this piece they are springing up out of the "ground".

Brain Pan edges

I am really pleased with the way this piece is finishing! It kept adding to itself but has reached a conclusion. All that is left to do now is finsih the bottom of the base and stitch the sides together into its 3d form.

Brain Pan

Different from my usual work and still in progress: this piece is demanding its own wants are met, and it keeps stretching and growing. When done, it will be an open "tray" of sorts, containing my "brain pan", an intended pun/play on words.
